5 All Natural Ways to Boost Your Workout
Working out isn't always easy, and everyone hits a plateau at some point. There really are no safe shortcuts to getting in great shape, but there are safe and effective strategies that will give you an advantage.
If you're looking to add a little edge to your fitness routine the all natural way, try these tips:
Eat a Snack First
While it’s a terrible idea to try and workout after a massive meal, eating a small amount about 1 hour to 30 minutes before your workout can help give you the energy boost you need to push through a tough routine. Try and stick to small, nutritionally dense snacks that don’t have a ton of volume to avoid feeling too full. Nuts, dried blueberries, pumpkin seeds, protein powder, and oats are all good choices.
Take Ashwagandha
When it comes to nutritional supplements, ashwagandha is the complete package because it helps both mind AND body. It can help increase your workout stamina, reduce your recovery time, and helps with the healthy management of muscle and fat. It can also improve mental clarity, focus, and provide you with sustained energy throughout the day. You can purchase it in capsule, form, or try it in our Organic Greens powder to reap added benefits of alkalizing and detoxing veggies at the same time.
Caffeine and Certain Herbs May Help
If you have a caffeine sensitivity, this tip may not be for you, but for many people, a little jolt of caffeine before a workout can give them the edge they need to perform at their peak. The trick is not to overdo it- about 125 mg is a good amount. That’s the equivalent to a cup of coffee. There are herbs that can help as well. Rhodesia rhodiola has been shown to boost serotonin production, which will keep you in a positive mindset while working out. Bioactive compounds in green tea called EGCG can help increase norepinephrine hormone levels, which are responsible for telling cells to break down fat. Our Natural Fat Burner contains all three of these ingredients.
Keep Regular Timing
Many trainers will tell you that working out first thing in the morning is the only way you should be working out, and they do have good reason. Working out first thing in the AM sets a good precedent for the rest of your day, burns fat efficiently, and will give you a boost of energy that lasts all day. However, not every person can (or wants to) get into the gym at the crack of dawn. Working out almost any time of day will be equally effective- the importance is to find a time and stick to it so it becomes a habit.
Stretch it Out
Stress in unavoidable, but when in high does, it triggers to body to produce cortisol, a hormone that inhibits the immune system. Establishing good everyday routines like exercise, meditation, participating in a relaxing hobby, or even just cuddling with your pet can greatly improve your odds of avoiding the flu, or shortening your recovery time.
Most over-the-counter flu treatments only mask symptoms of the flu, rather than addressing underlying nutritional and bodily needs that may cause you to become susceptible in the first place. We hope these tips help you stay happy, healthy and flu-free!
